Home favourite Kunlavut Vitidsarn is the top seed.

This week, all eyes in the badminton world will be in Thailand as the Thailand Open 2025 kicks off on May 13. Following the Taipei Open, the Super 500 tournament on the BWF World Tour circuit offers a prize pool of USD 475,000.

Paris Olympics silver medallist and number #1 seed Kunlavut Vitidsarn will be aiming to add another title to his name. In women’s singles, top seed Pornpawee Chochuwong from Thailand will face strong competition from Olympic champion Chen Yufei and Tomoka Miyazaki, who recently triumphed at the Taipei Open.

Ng Tze Yong will be competing, but Malaysia’s key player and reigning champion, Lee Zii Jia, will unfortunately miss the tournament. Pearly Tan and Thinaah Muralitharan are the top seeds in women’s doubles.

For India, Lakshya Sen and Priyanshu Rajawat will lead the charge in men’s singles. Lakshya will be looking to turn his fortunes around after a quarter-final exit to China’s Li Shi Feng at the All England Open in March. In women’s doubles, number #3 seeds Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly will hope to provide India with a breakthrough. However, India has no mixed doubles representatives in the main draw.
