The May 23 episode of SmackDown aired from Savannah, Georgia!
The go-home show of Friday Night SmackDown aired live from the EnMarket Arena in Savannah, Georgia. The episode also continued to build towards the Money in the Bank 2025 with two MITB Qualifiers, while stars set to clash at Saturday Night’s Main Event met for the final time in Georgia.
The show kicked off with Giulia defeating Charlotte Flair and Zelina Vega to secure her spot and join Alexa Bliss, Roxanne Perez and Rhea Ripley in the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match.
Candice LeRae made her return to help Tomasso Ciampa defeat Chris Sabin in a single match, while the team of Michin and B-Fab defeated The Secret Hervice (Alba Fyre & Piper Niven). The promotion also announced that Zelina Vega will defend the Women’s United States title against Chelsea Green tomorrow at SNME.
JC Mateo and Jacob Fatu defeated the team of Rey Fenix & Jimmy Us,o while LA Knight defeated Shinsuke Nakamura and Aleister Black to qualify for the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match.
The main event tag title clash where Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford) defended the WWE Tag Team titles against Fraxiom (Nathan Frazer & Axiom) ended in disqualification as chaos ensued after DIY (Tomasso Ciampa & Johnny Gargano) accompanied by Candice LeRae tried to interfere but were thwarted by Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin).
The lights suddenly went out during the brawl between the four teams. When they came back on, the Wyatt Sicks (Uncle Howdy, Erick Rowan, Dexter Lumis, Nikki Cross & Joe Gacy) had made their eerie arrival on SmackDown on the birthday of the late great Bray Wyatt, taking out everyone to conclude the show as they paid tribute to Wyatt.
During the 05/23 episode of SmackDown, the promotion announced multiple matches and segments for next week’s show, which will serve as the fallout episode from Saturday Night’s Main Event. The May 30 episode of SmackDown will air live from the Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena is set to make his return on the Blue brand’s fallout show next week. Bianca Bealir is also set to make her return following her fiery promo, which aired on this week’s show in Georgia.
Furthermore, Andrade, Jacob Fatu, and Carmelo Hayes will battle in the men’s Qualifying triple-threat match. The winner will join Solo Sikoa and LA Knight, who have qualified for the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match.
In the final women’s MITB Qualifying triple-threat match, Jade Cargill, Nia Jax and Naomi will battle to secure the final spot. The winner will join Alexa Bliss, Roxanne Perez, Rhea Ripley, and Giulia in the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match.
