The England vs Zimbabwe test will be played at the Trent Bridge, Nottingham.
England Cricket Team have announced their playing XI for the historic one-off test against Zimbabwe. During Zimbabwe’ tour of England 2025, both sides will clash in only one test match. Interestingly, both teams will play a test match with each other after a gap of 22 years. Both of them last played a test match in 2003.
The England vs Zimbabwe one-off test will commence on May 22. The venue of the clash is Trent Bridge Stadium in Nottingham. The match will kickstart England’s home summer season. Notably, the match will not be part of ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle.
Sam Cook makes test debut as England reveal playing XI
England revealed their playing XI two days prior to the one-off four-day test against Zimbabwe. Ben Stokes will lead the side in the match. Uncapped right-arm pacer Sam Cook has been inducted into playing XI and will make his test debut. Matthew Potts and James Rew have been benched for the match.
England playing 11 for Zimbabwe Test: Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes (C), James Smith (wk), Gus Atkinson, Josh Tongue, Sam Cook, Shoaib Bashir.
After the one-off test match against Zimbabwe, England will kick off their journey in ICC WTC 2025-27 next month with a test series against the Indian Cricket Team. England will host India in five test matches starting June 20. The opening game will take place at Headingley, Leeds/
Meanwhile, Zimbabwe Cricket Team had earlier announced their squad for the match. Craig Ervine is set to lead a 15-member squad against England.
