The Asian Athletics Championships 2025 will be held from May 27 onwards.
The Asian Athletics Championships 2025 will take place in Gumi, Republic of Korea, from May 27 to 31. The 26th edition of the tournament will see 43 Nations compete in 45 events across five days. The bi-annual competition was previously won by Japan in the 2023 edition held in Bangkok.
China are the most successful team in the history of the Asian Athletics Championships, having won the tournament 17 times. They won the tournament for the first time in 1983 and last won the title as hosts in 2015 (Wuhan).

Defending champions Japan have won the Asian Athletics Championships five times, while India and Bahrain have won once each. India won the tournament during the 2017 edition hosted in Bhubaneswar and Bharain, on the other hand, clinched the trophy in the 2019 Doha edition.
The 2025 edition of the Asian Athletics Championships will witness over 2000 athletes from 43 nations compete in the tournament. Korea will host the competition after 20 years, having previously hosted the Asian Athletics Championships in 2005.
India will field a 59-member squad in the upcoming edition of the Asian Athletics Championships in Korea. They finished the previous edition of the competition with 27 medals, including six gold, 11 silver, and nine bronze. The sub-continent finished third in the medal Tally, behind Japan (37 medals) and China (22 medals).
India’s star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra will miss the event, and thus youngsters Sachin Yadav and Yashvir Singh will compete in the event. The men’s javelin throw event will also witness the return of Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem, who’ll play his first event after the Paris Olympics 2024 triumph.
Jyothi Yarraji, Parul Chaudhary, and Abdulla Aboobacker will compete in their respective events at the Asian Athletics Championships 2025, looking to defend their titles. In a major setback, India will be without gold medalists Tajinderpal Singh Toor and Ajay Kumar Saroj for the 2025 edition. Both players won gold medals in the shot put and 1500m events, respectively, in the 2023 edition held in Thailand.
