NEW DELHI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested a CRPF personnel, Moti Ram Jat, for allegedly leaking sensitive information to Pakistan intelligence officers, officials said on Monday.According to the agency, Moti Ram had been involved in espionage activities since 2023, sharing classified national security details with Pakistani handlers. The NIA also found that he had received funds through various channels in exchange for the information.He was arrested from Delhi and is currently being interrogated. A special court at Patiala House has remanded him to NIA custody till June 6.The arrest comes in the wake of India’s major counterterror operation, Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7. As part of the offensive, Indian armed forces destroyed nine known terror infrastructure sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Since then, investigative agencies have detained several individuals on charges of espionage.
