Netherlands vs Malta Preview, prediction, lineups, betting tips & odds

Oranje will take on Homor in the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.

This will be the second game of the Dutch team in the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, as they will host Malta in an exciting clash. The hosts are unbeaten against Malta, as both teams have faced each other on six different occasions, but the Netherlands have come out on top every time.

Netherlands are clear favourites to finish this group stage on top, as they are a much better side compared to other teams. After a disappointing loss to Spain in the Nations League, which led to their elimination, they will hope to win all the games in the Qualifiers. The Oranje are placed in Group G alongside Malta, Poland, Finlandand Lithuania.

The home team will miss many key players during these Qualifiers, as some of them are injured, and some of them have opted not to join the team due to personal reasons. Ronald Koeman still has enough quality players on his side who can get the team good results in these games.

On the other hand, Malta’s performance in the Qualifiers in three games has been poor. They are sitting in fourth place in the table with only one point. They are probably the weakest team in the group, but despite all the difficulties and challenges, they will look to give their best on the pitch, to get some points on the board.

Playing the Netherlands away from home is a tough task for sure. They will have to be at their best to get something positive from the match. This will be a mouthwatering fixture.

Players to Watch

Frenkie de Jong (Netherlands)

The Dutchman has evolved into a more mature role on and off the ball. He can be classified as a deep-lying playmaker with strong carrying and progressive abilities on the ball. His passing is excellent, and he carries the ball into areas to create chances, but in the process, also aims to create space for other players.

He knows where his teammates are in relation to him and the opposition. He scans frequently before engaging in an action, which gives him an advantage in what to do in the next few steps in his game. De Jong is instrumental in recognising and organising pressing in the defensive third and is great at dribbling.

This season, he played 40 games in which he scored two goals and provided two assists.

Teddy Teuma (Malta)

Teuma was born and brought up in France and is currently playing in the Ligue 1 for Reims. Teuma is a combination of creativity and strength, as he is someone who is able to do offensive and defensive duties very well on the pitch. Even though his role for his club and his national team is quite different but he is still able to adapt to the situation very well.

He will be the biggest threat to the home team’s defence in the upcoming fixture. This season, he has played 20 games in which he scored two goals.
