Gurdeep was released by Patna Pirates ahead of the PKL Season 12 Auction.

PKL Season 10 champions Puneri Paltan have signed Gurdeep Sangwan for a whopping amount of INR 47.10 lakhs at the Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 auction. He started the auction with a base price of INR 13 lakhs.

The 25-year-old Indian player becomes the second costliest pick of Day 2 after Nitin Rawal, who was signed by his former club, Jaipur Pink Panthers, for INR 50 lakhs.

Day 2 of the Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 Player Auction is underway in Mumbai. Over 500 players from Categories C and D will go under the hammer on the second day of the auction. The auction for the overseas players has concluded, and teams will focus on signing domestic players to fill in their squads for the upcoming PKL season.

A look at Gurdeep’s PKL Journey

Gurdeep began his PKL journey with UP Yoddhas in PKL Season 7. He plied his trade for the Yoddhas for four consecutive seasons from seasons 7 to 10. The Indian all-rounder earned four points from five matches in his debut PKL season.

In PKL Season 8, Gurdeep earned 17 points from 19 matches. He bagged 36 points from 20 matches in Season 9 and earned 30 points from 16 matches in the 10th edition of the Pro Kabaddi League. After four seasons with the Yoddhas, Gurdeep joined the Patna Pirates for PKL Season 11. The Indian player earned 34 points from 16 matches with Pirates, but was released into the auction.

Overall, the 25-year-old has earned 121 points from 76 matches in the Pro Kabaddi League. Despite being an all-rounder, Gurdeep primarily plays as a defender. He has 118 tackle points to his name from 264 tackles, including 10 Super Tackles and five High 5s. As a raider, the player has three raid points from nine raids in the PKL.
