South Africa jump to 2nd spot, India remain at 4th in latest ICC test team rankings after WTC 2023-25 final

South Africa recently won the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 final against Australia.

In the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023–25 final, South Africa defeated Australia to win the coveted trophy for the first time. The Proteas, who had been reliable throughout the championship cycle, experienced a historic occasion.

They won the prized title thanks to their outstanding all-around performance, disciplined bowling, and resilient demeanor in pivotal situations.

The Proteas defeated formidable teams en route to the final, demonstrating tenacity and will. They were unable to go up to the top of the ICC Test team rankings, though, despite this victory. Australia were able to maintain their top spot in the latest ICC test team rankings despite losing the final.

South Africa jump to second spot in ICC test team rankings

Australia are still ranked first in the most recent ICC test team rankings. Conversely, the Proteas jumped from third to second place by one spot. Following this reorganization, England fell to third place.

With 2501 points from 22 games and a rating of 114, South Africa are now in placed second. Their recent series dominance and well-rounded team are the reasons for their jump in the rankings.

With 3200 points from 26 games and a rating of 123, Australia are ranked first in the most recent test team rankings. Their steady performances over two years enabled them to hold onto their lead even though they lost the WTC Final.

India remain at fourth spot in the latest ICC test team rankings

It’s interesting to note that India’s ranking stayed the same despite South Africa’s victory. In the most recent standings, India are ranked fourth, despite having a strong performance in some sections of the cycle.

With a rating of 105 and 2837 points after 27 games, they are eight points behind England. Starting on June 20, India will play England in a five-match test series that might have a big impact on the rankings.

With 2094 points from 22 games and a rating of 95, New Zealand are placed fifth. With 1705 points from 22 games, Pakistan are still in seventh place with a rating of 78, which is indicative of their recent difficulties in the longer format.
