The G.O.A.T. of pro wrestling will hang up his wrestling boots at the end of 2025!
After two decades of iconic moments, John Cena has finally decided to call it a day as he will hang up his wrestling boots at the end of 2025. He is on his farewell tour and was looking to break the tie with Ric Flair and become the one and only 17-time WWE World Champion.
John Cena did what he aimed at WrestleMania 41 (Sunday) as he defeated Cody Rhodes in the main event to win the Undisputed WWE title and become a 17-time World Champion in the WWE, solidifying himself as the greatest of all time.
Cena also defended the title for the first time against his career-long rival, Randy Orton, at Backlash 2025, a matchup the fans had been clamoring for.
Just as WWE listened and delivered on the iconic final battle between these two longtime rivals, here are the top five stars John Cena should face before his farewell tour ends.
5. Drew McIntyre
‘The Scottish Psychopath’ Drew McIntyre in his second run with the company, not only proved why he deserved to be in the promotion but also became one of the biggest stars in the process. McIntyre on mic skills, coupled with amazing in-ring performances, would be a great fit for a feud against Cena, helping Drew to perfect his craft even further.

4. AJ Styles
Cena has fought AJ Styles multiple times, and the two veteran running it back for the final time would not be an issue for any fans, Clash in Paris 2025 is one of the perfect stage for this matchup, given the intensity of French crowd as was seen last year when Styles battled in a losing effort against the then Champion Cody Rhodes. The match would also represent WWE vs TNA, as Styles was the face of TNA Wrestling for years, while Cena has long been the face of WWE.
3. Roman Reigns
‘The Greatest of all time’ John Cena vs ‘The OTC’ Roman Reigns is a dream matchup that would be even bigger than the WrestleMania 41 matchup against Cody Rhodes. While Cena was away, building his Hollywood career, Reigns slowly became the top dog. Cena is 0-2 against Reigns in one-on-one competition, and a rematch to settle the score should be in the works.

2. CM Punk
As fans are hoping to see Cena run it back with fellow veterans, another name that emerges is of ‘The Second City Saint’ CM Punk. The two stars have always put on amazing matches, and at this time in their career, it will be an emotional moment for fans who have watched them lock horns while growing up. Punk himself, in an interview with Tudum by Netflix, stated that he wants to be a part of Cena’s farewell tour in any way possible.
1. The Rock
For the first time in his illustrious career, John Cena turned heel as he aligned with The Rock and battered Cody Rhodes at Elimination Chamber 2025. However, since then, The Rock has been absent from WWE programming, leaving Cena vulnerable to attacks. This might irk Cena and would be a perfect spot for his redemption arc so that our beloved ‘G.O.A.T.’ doesn’t retire as a heel.
Cena and The Rock share a long history of rivalries and clashes throughout their illustrious careers. If these two iconic Superstars in WWE history were to face off one last time, it would be one of the biggest matches in promotional history.
