Updated India schedule for Day 3, May 29

India are third in the medal tally with eight medals to their name.

India delivered a commanding performance on Day 2 of the Asian Athletics Championships 2025, highlighted by a gold medal in mixed 4x400m relay. The quartet of Rupal Chaudhary, Santhosh Kumar, Vishal TK, and Subha Venkatesan clocked an impressive 3:18.12 to successfully defend their title, finishing well ahead of China and Sri Lanka.

Earlier in the day, Rupal Chaudhary had already made headlines by winning silver in the women’s 400m final, becoming the first Indian woman to reach the podium at this edition of the championships. Her time of 52.68 seconds placed her between Japan’s Nanako Matsumoto and Uzbekistan’s Jonbibi Hukmova, while fellow Indian Vithya Ramraj finished fifth.

The medals kept coming as Pooja claimed silver in women’s 1500m, and Yoonus Shah secured bronze in the men’s 1500m, reflecting the depth of India’s middle-distance talent. India’s field event athletes also made their presence felt, with Tejaswin Shankar clinching silver in decathlon after a closely fought contest, and Praveen Chithravel taking silver in men’s triple jump with a leap of 16.90m.

The day’s results pushed India’s overall medal count to eight by the end of Day 2, and the country now shifts their attention towards day 3 of the Asian Athletics Championships 2025. The nation’s athletes have already made their mark in the opening days, and with several medal hopefuls in action on May 29, fans can look forward to another exciting day at the Gumi Civic Stadium.
