Denmark’s Anders Antonsen is the top seed.
Following the conclusion of the Thailand Open, yet another BWF Super 500 tournament—the Malaysia Masters 2025 is set to get underway from May 20, with the competition offering a prize pool of USD 475,000.
Reigning champion Viktor Axelsen remains sidelined as he continues his recovery from surgery. China’s Wang Zhiyi, the top seed and defending champion, will lead the competition, along with Denmark’s powerful doubles pair Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen, who will face strong contenders for the title.

Malaysia’s Lee Zii Jia will miss his home championship as he has yet to resume competing. However, Malaysian men’s singles hope rest on Leong Jun Hao and Ng Tze Yong, while the country’s doubles pairs Goh Sze Fei/Nur Izzuddin and Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik are among the top seeds and strong title contenders.
India’s Lakshya Sen, after an early exit in Thailand, will not compete in Malaysia. The spotlight will be on former champion HS Prannoy, who claimed the title in 2023, and Ayush Shetty, who impressed at the Taipei Open.
However, India’s star pair Satwik-Chirag will still not be competing. They last participated in the All England Open in March. Additionally, fans will be keen to see if PV Sindhu makes her comeback at this event.
