Following the conclusion of the Malaysia Masters, a BWF Super 750 tournament, the Singapore Open 2025 is set to commence on May 27. The competition boasts a prize pool of USD 1,000,000, attracting top badminton talent from around the world.

Reigning champion Viktor Axelsen remains sidelined as he continues his recovery from surgery. Leading the competition is Olympic Champion An Se-young, the top seed and defending champion, alongside China’s Shi Yuqi, who is also a top seed and defending champion. Both will face stiff competition from strong contenders such as Olympic silver medallist Kunlavut Vitidsarn and Wang Zhiyi, who is currently in excellent form.

Singapore’s Loh Kean Yew will be the home favourite. The former world champion has enjoyed a strong season recently, highlighted by his victory at the Chinese Taipei Open.

India will be well represented in the men’s singles category by Lakshya Sen, HS Prannoy, Kiran George, and Priyanshu Rajawat, while the women’s singles lineup includes several top players such as PV Sindhu.

However, the spotlight will be on India’s star doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, who will be competing in their first tournament since the All England Open in March.
