USA will face Turkey and Switzerland in June.
Mauricio Pochettino has called up many new players and left out some well-known players from the USMNT camp squad that was revealed ahead of the 2025 Gold Cup.
Before the USMNT plays Trinidad & Tobago, Haiti, and Saudi Arabia in the 2025 Gold Cup group stage later in June, friendlies against Turkey (June 7) and Switzerland (June 10) are scheduled.
Christian Pulisic, Yunus Musah, Weston McKennie, Tim Weah, Gio Reyna, and Antonee Robinson are among those who are not in the team. According to a statement from U.S. Soccer, Pulisic requested not to play this summer.
With the USMNT needing to get off to a fast start in preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Pochettino has a huge 12 months ahead of him.
U.S. Soccer sporting director Matt Crocker revealed the information to Fox Sports’ Doug McIntyre after Christian Pulisic requested not to be included in the USMNT’s roster for the Gold Cup this summer.
Given the short amount of time with his team before the World Cup next summer, Pochettino would have undoubtedly preferred Pulisic to be a leader this summer. Pochettino and the federation must, however, grant the USMNT star’s request for time off.
The complete USMNT roster for the training camp before the Gold Cup can be seen below. This team needs to be successful to generate some steam and goodwill a year before hosting the World Cup at home.
