Who holds the record for longest javelin throw, and where does Neeraj Chopra stand in the list?

Neeraj Chopra and Julian Weber are the latest entrant to the elite 90m club.

Czech Republic’s Jan Zelezny holds the World Record in men’s javelin throw, which he secured with a massive 98.48m throw in 1996. His record has remained intact for almost 30 years now.

German javelin thrower Julian Weber and India’s Neeraj Chopra were the latest additions to the 90m elite club, having breached the mark in the recently concluded Doha Diamond League 2025 on Friday, May 16.

Julian recorded a throw of 91.06m and became the 26th athlete to clear the 90m mark. Meanwhile, Neeraj was the 25th player to do so with a 90.23m throw in Doha. The German athlete is ranked 17th overall in the longest javelin throw list, while two-time Olympic champion Neeraj is placed 24th on the list.

Germany’s Max Dehning (90.20m) and Keshorn Walcott from Trinidad & Tobago (90.16m) are the only two players in list after Neeraj among the players to have breached the 90m mark.
