Tim David clutched his hamstring during the last game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are locking horns with each other in the 70th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The game between the two teams is taking place at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
RCB won the toss and opted to field first as Jitesh Sharma walked out at the toss due to the injury to Rajat Patidar, who will be playing as an impact player. The franchise has made two changes to their team as Tim David and Lungi Ngidi have been replaced from the last game.
While Lungi Ngidi went back to join the South Africa team for the ICC World Test Championship final 2025, Tim David will be missing the match due to injury. The Australian batter clutched his hamstring during the last game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
Tim David injured himself while fielding in the first innings. He looked in immense pain and walked back to the dressing room. The lanky all-rounder came out to bat later in the innings but was unable to run as he was back in the hut after scoring just 1 run off 5 balls.
Jitesh Sharma confirms Tim David will be missing the game
Jitesh Sharma, at the toss, confirmed that Tim David will be missing the game due to injury. But was quick to mention that fans will be surprised to see both David and Josh Hazlewood for the next game of the IPL 2025.
“We will field first. It looks like a good wicket; we’ll fancy chasing. Rajat Patidar is our impact player. Looking to win and make it into the top two. Tim David misses out, Liam comes in, so does Thushara, he replaces Ngidi, who left the team.”
Tim David not playing in the match against Lucknow Super Giants is a big blow for RCB. This is because it is a crucial game for the franchise in the context of the points table, as a win here would book their berth in Qualifier 1, or else they will have to play the Eliminator.
Tim David has been a major reason behind the success of RCB in the IPL 2025. The hard-hitting batter has played valuable cameos down the order and has played his part in winning some crucial games. In his place, the franchise has added Liam Livingstone to the XI.
Liam Livingstone started the IPL for RCB but was dropped midway after he failed to score runs. The ongoing game against LSG will be a massive opportunity for him to claim his stake back in the team.
