WWE Hall of Famer claims R-Truth would have never been released under Vince McMahon


R-Truth recently announced his departure from WWE!

R-Truth shocked the entire pro wrestling world on Sunday, announcing that his contract with WWE will not be renewed. The former multi-time 24/7 Champion recently competed in a high-profile match against his “childhood hero.”

Truth competed against John Cena in a non-title match at the May 24 edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event. This was his final program with the Stamford-based promotion, as to everyone’s surprise, the beloved star was let go by the promotion.

The news caught everyone off guard, with Truth’s fellow peers and fans showering him with high praise and thanking him for all the memories. Fans were also livid at Triple H and TKO (WWE’s parent company) at the decision and even rallied to bring him back.

WWE fans in Tulsa, Oklahoma, made their feelings clear during the June 2 episode of Monday Night Raw, loudly chanting “WE WANT TRUTH” multiple times during the show to show their support and express their disappointment over R-Truth’s departure.

Mark Henry believes Vince McMahon would have never released R-Truth

During the segment on Busted Open Radio, WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry recalled his conversation with Truth after the news of his departure broke out. When co-host Bully Ray asked if Vince McMahon would have ever released R-Truth.

Henry, without any hesitation, replied, “Not in a million years.” he and Bully also highlighted Vince’s relationship with Truth, noting that the WWE co-founder “liked R-Truth more than many others.” Truth’s unique talent for making Vince laugh played a big role in keeping him in good favor, regardless of what was going on in the company.

Henry also talked about how much Truth meant to the business and laid out an idea for the WWE to pay tribute to the legend.

“I think that every match that’s on the show, they should have somebody do something that pays tribute to R-Truth. And there should be at least three people interviewed in the arena… and pay homage to him” Henry said.

Vince McMahon, resigned as WWE CEO and chairman in June 2022, following claims of hush-money agreements over affairs with former WWE employees but later returned to the promotion in early 2023 to facilitate the sale of the company In 2023, WWE was merged with the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) to form the TKO group by their parent company, Endeavor Group Holdings in April.

McMahon returned to serve as the executive chairman of the newly merged company, TKO Group Holdings (TKO), and later resigned from his position at TKO Group in January 2024,/ following allegations of trafficking and assault
